The federal government announced the extension of the Canada Recovery Hiring Program (CRHP). First announced on April 19, 2021, this program offers a subsidy to eligible employers to support them throughout the economic recovery.
On November 24th, the federal government introduced legislation to prolong the CRHP until May 7, 2022, encouraging employers to rehire workers and increase both their work hours and salaries. By virtue of this extension, the Government hopes to create quality jobs and support the growth of the Canadian economy. For more information on the CRHP and other support measures available to employers affected by the pandemic, visit the federal government website.
Targeted measures
As the pandemic continues to take its toll on the country’s workers, the federal government is looking to implement more targeted support to reach the hardest-hit businesses. Therefore, the following subsidies will be launched for:
- Businesses in the tourism and hospitality sectors
- Organizations that have faced significant losses
- Organizations subject to enforced confinement
