1. In Quebec, workers in the clothing industry are also entitled to a vacation on January 2 (clothing store employees do not belong to this industry)
2. CLC: Canada Labour Code - the statutory holiday applies to federally regulated industries and workplaces.
3. In Manitoba, the holiday is called “Louis Riel Day” and in Prince Edward Island, the holiday is called “Islander Day”, in Nova Scotia, the holiday is called “Heritage Day.”
4. Alberta, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador usually celebrate this holiday, but the employer is not obliged to pay the employee.
5. In Manitoba, the holiday is known as "Orange Shirt Day."
6. In Manitoba, most industries are not authorized to be open for business on Remembrance Day. Most employers pay their employees for this holiday, but they are not obliged to do so. Those who are authorized to carry out their activities must pay their employees as they normally would for any type of statutory holiday. In Nova Scotia, an employee who is obliged to work on Remembrance Day is entitled to paid leave on an agreed-upon workday if they worked at least 15 of the 30 days preceding this holiday.
